Well, that did not take too long! The Miami Heat and Daequan Cook announced today that they have agreed to terms and signed a contract. Cook was a guard at Ohio State only for one year. He is slated to earn about $2 million for the first 2 years, and if the Heat exercise their option, he will be making $4 million. This mean that Daequan Cook will be able to participate with the Miami Heat’s summer league team.
Cook averaged almost 10 points last season with the Buckeyes and shot 41.5% from behind the arc. Given that Jason Kapono just headed off to Canada, the Heat will need another sharpshooter to fill his shoes; not easy, considering Kapono was the NBA’s best 3 point shooter from last season. The summer league practices began today. Here’s hoping that Cook was the best of the 3 fabulous Ohio State freshmen!
