Heat’s List Of Potential Guards Shrinks Again…

Steve FrancisWell, I just read a report on ESPN that is reporting that Steve Francis has reunited with the Rockets. According to the article, Francis turned down a higher offer from the Miami Heat. Reading into this, it seems that players around the league believe that the Heat’s immediate future is bleak; and it is hard to argue with that sentiment. The Heat have failed over and over again to land a quality free agent this off season and it seems that the problems are snowballing and affecting their current bargaining power. Nevertheless, there are still a few names on the market, including Juan Carlos Navarro.

The Miami Herald is reporting that the Heat are in talks with the Washington Wizards over the rights to the Spanish star, Navarro. The deal could be made in exchange for some future draft picks, but the Wizards are also trying to unload a few contracts with the deal.

Reportedly, Washington wants to get rid of at least one of the contracts with the following players: center Brendan Haywood (three years/$16.5 million), guard Antonio Daniels (three/$18.6 million) or forward Etan Thomas (three/$20.6 million). If the Heat were to take one of these players on, they would have to give up one of their own, namely Williams, Walker or Haslem.

Unfortunately it is unclear whether the Wizards are even interested in J-Wil or Antoine. And of course, the Heat are reluctant to talk trade when it comes to Udonis Haslem, who is arguably the hardest playing guy on the team. Either way, the Heat really need to get something done, before time runs out.

What to do what to do. It’s not that I was that high on Stevie Franchise but at this point I just want the Heat to do something. As we speak Heat fans are jumping off the bandwagon.

It’s not just Heat fans… potential players for the team may be running away from the wagon! Nobody wants to be near when we go down, and it looks like more and more people think that is going to happen.

It seems the general feeling down here is that Wade, Shaq, Riley and South Beach just aren’t sexy enough anymore to lure free agents down here for less money.

I was always stubborn when it came to this. I always said to myself, why wouldn’t a player choose to come down here over Green Bay. It’s South Beach for crying out loud! Unfortunatley the mightly dollar doesn’t agree with me.
